The second international conference of Korean studies in Riga will take place on 28 and 29 May, 2017, in the National Library of Latvia Baltic Research Centre for East Asian studies Library (AsiaRes) Reading Room (Level M). The conference this year will host a notable count of participants and specialists of Korean studies as well as supporters from South Korea and several European countries. Free entrance.
On the 21 April, 2017, in the National Library of Latvia (NLL) Ziedonis Hall from 10.30 until 15.20 a Spring conference will take place "I Belong Here: A Conference for Specialists of Children Literature and Libraries".
On 3 April at 17.00 the National Library of Latvia (NLL) (atrium, level 4) will open the exhibition "Rakstot kokā" ("Engraving Wood"). It introduces viewers to an ancient printing method – xylography, and shows woodcuts and wood engravings from representatives of the national schools of Latvia, Germany, the Netherlands, France, the Czech Republic and the USA, and their diverse artistic searches and styles. The most striking works from the NLL Konrāds Ubāns Art Reading Room Printing Collection will be on show at the exhibition. Free admission.
On 23 March at 19.00 the concert "Poetic Guitar Sounds" by Danish guitar player Mikkel Andersen will be held at the Danish Cultural Institute, National Library of Latvia (level 6). Free entrance.
The Ministry of Education and Science of Latvia and the National Library of Latvia (NLL) invites to participate the International Conference "Challenges for High Quality of Adult Education". The Conference will take place on 30 May, 2017 in NLL's Ziedonis Hall (Mūkusalas iela 3, Riga). The conference will bring together experts, practitioners, policy makers and researchers in the field of adult education. The conference is intended as a forum to share experience and knowledge across Europe.

On Monday, March 6, 16.00 the opening of the RISEBA University Faculty of Architecture and design (FAD) BA architecture graduate project exhibition "Re-creation" will be held at the National Library of Latvia (NLL) Exhibition Hall I (level 1). Together with the opening the projects catalogue "THE FAD BA Thesis Book. 2017" and the school's yearbook "THE FAD BOOK. The First Five Years of FAD. 2011 – 2016" will be presented.
On Wednesday, 22 Feburay, at 18.00 at the National Library of Latvia (Baltic Research Centre for East Asian Studies Library (AsiaRes) Reading Room, level M) the second part of the lecture series "Airu vēdas" (Rudder Strokes), which focuses on the transition from ending to beginning, will happen. Free entrance.
