Marking 500 years since the beginning of the Reformation and reflecting on the significant impact of early Lutheranism on the Latvian language and culture, an exhibition Luther. The Turn is open from 1 November in the National Library of Latvia (NLL). This means that Riga and Latvia, as part of national centenary celebrations is integrated into the international commemoration of Martin Luther and the 500th anniversary of the Reformation. The exhibition is being organised by the NLL in ​​cooperation with the Strasbourg National and University Library (SNUL) and the Württemberg Land Library (WLL) in Stuttgart.

From 26 October, the "Print Workshop" ("Melnās mākslas darbnīca"), exhibiting a variety of printing techniques, will be held in the ground-floor exhibition hall of the National Library of Latvia (NLL). For the first time in Latvia it will be possible to see and try out different printing presses – from a 19th century Boston printing press to a modern-day three-dimensional (3D) printer manufactured in Latvia. Entry is free.

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) is pleased to announce the opening of an exhibition "A Scenic Journey from Dzerbene to Sicily. Karl Gotthard Grass" at 16.00 on 11 July in the ground floor exhibition hall. The life and creative work of Baltic German artist and writer Carl Gotthard Grass (1767-1814) recall the unbridled enthusiasm of the Enlightenment's efforts – which also in reverberated in Vidzeme – to confirm Europe's cultural-historical unity and of Latvian culture's traditional place in that rich cultural space. The exhibition will be open until 24 September. Entrance is free.

From June 2017, the National Library of Latvia (NLL) is offering a new discovery service "Primo" that provides possiblity to search within library created Catalogues, online subscription databases and open access resources, simultaneously. The NLL is introducing "Primo" in partnership with the "Ex Libris-ProQuest" company and the Cultural Information System Centre.
