From 12 May to 4 June, residents of Latvia can find out about the activities and the scientific achievements of the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN) when the CERN – Science Accelerator exhibition will be open at the National Library of Latvia. Entrance is free.
This spring the motto of Latvian children's literature lovers is "The small is big in a book", the statement that is included in the title of the message by the well-known Latvian poetess Inese Zandere dedicated to the International Children's Books Day. This was also the title of the international conference, which took place on March 19, 2018 in the National Library of Latvia. Every spring IBBY Latvia and Children's literature centre of the National library of Latvia together organize a conference for specialists of children's literature and librarians, which evaluates books, published for children and young adults in Latvia in the previous year as well as discusses other interesting issues.

Commencing 5 February until early 2020, the National Library of Latvia (NLL) is maintaining an educational site – www.luters.lv – a digital version of the stories in the NLL exhibition Luther. The Turn (01.11.2017.–04.02.2018.) about late medieval piety, Martin Luther's (1483–1546) struggle against indulgences and conflict with the Roman Catholic Church, the spread of his teachings and the way in which the Lutheran Reformation contributed to the development of the written Latvian language.
