From 24 September, a small exhibition A Love Affair with History. Jaan Kross's Centenary (Romāns ar vēsturi. Jānam Krosam – 100) celebrating the centenary of Estonian writer Jaan Kross will be on view in the Humanities and Social Sciences Reading Room (Level 2) of the National Library of Latvia (NLL). The items on display were selected by poet Inese Zandere and translator Maima Grīnberga. The exhibition features the author's books published in Estonia, as well as translations of his works into other languages. The exhibition is open until 30 December, 2020. Entrance is free.

Every Monday from 10.00 to 15.00 the National Library of Latvia (NLL) invites tourists and other interested parties to visit Level 1 and the roof gable (Level 11 and 12) of the Castle of Light. Visitors can tour four exhibitions, learn fun facts about the NLL and its history, learn to know the People's Bookshelf story and enjoy coffee or lunch at the Klīversala restaurant.

The National Library of Latvia (NLL) has re-opened and is serving readers in person again. To make the visit safe and sound, until the end of the summer the library services will be provided only in the atrium on the level 1. Here, providing 42 reader workstations, eight equipped computer stations and a distance of two meters between each two of them, 50 people can work at the same time. Before visiting the NLL, the reader must reserve a workstation and the necessary printed matter.

Until 12 May or longer, if the State Emergency situation is extended, the Book Collection gramatas.lndb.lv of the National Digital Library of Latvia (NDLL) will be available to everyone (regardless of geographical location). It contains about 10 000 books that are in non-commercial status – from the 16th century to the beginning of the 21st century. The content of the Book Collection Portal is mainly in Latvian.
