The Embassy of Japan in Latvia invites you to the ikebana demonstration of one of the most characteristic ikebana styles - Ikenobo and ikebana and Japanese sumie ink painting workshops. The demonstration and workshops will be conducted by Ms. Midori Yamada, Head of Ikenobo branch in CIS countries. For details, please see the description below.

Midori Yamada founded the Ikenobo School in Russia and the CIS countries in 1992 and became its leader. The Master has been actively promoting not only ikebana, but also Sumie ink painting, tea ceremony and other aspects of Japanese culture in Russia and in the nearby countries for over 20 years. From 1997 to 2002, she taught the Japanese language at the Oriental Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences. In 2008, she was awarded the State Award of Japan - the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Rays.
Ikebana Demonstration on 17 October (Tuesday)
Admission cards (free of charge) will be available from 6 October (Friday) at the reception on the level 1 of the National Library of Latvia. The number of seats is limited! Up to 2 admission cards per person.
Ikebana and Sumie Ink Painting Workshops on 18 October (Wednesday)
Admission cards (free of charge) will be available from 6 October (Friday) at the reception on the level 1 of the National Library of Latvia. Up to 2 admission cards per person. Workshops can accommodate maximum 40 participants.
The participants of the ikebana workshop are requested to bring their own scissors!
