On 18 January one of the main "Rīga 2014" opening events, "Chain of Booklovers", during which books will be passed from hand to hand from the old National Library of Latvia building to the new one in the contemporary building on the other side of river Daugava, the Castle of Light, will take place. The event will begin on 18 January, at 12.00 am.
Each of the eight legs will consist of specific gathering places, where each participant will receive a sign of distinction and, following the instructions of the coordinators, will take their place in the chain.
Everyone, who has already registered for the event, must confirm their participation by calling +371 67037969, (mobile phone) +371 29357445 or via e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org to specify the time and place of arrival.
Because of the re-registration, the registration on the website is closed and everyone, who is yet registered for this event, must send an application to email@example.com, stating their name, last name and phone number.
Registration for the "Chain of Booklovers" continues till 16 January. Organizers will specify the gathering place for each participant upon the confirmation of the registration.
To lessen the inconvenience of changes in public transportation routes for visitors and residents of Riga during the "Rīga 2014" opening week, some of the campaign’s legs have been specified already: leg 1 – Vērmanes dārzs park; leg 2 – Merķeļa Street; leg 3 – Brīvības Boulevard; leg 4 – Kaļķu Street; leg 5 – Kaļķu Street/Kungu Street; leg 6 – 11. novembra krastmala (11th November Embankment); leg 7 – Stone Bridge; leg 8 – Stone Bridge near the new library building.
