Interlibrary loan

Interlibrary loan (ILL) – is the possibility for the readers to use documents from the NLL or other research libraries’ collections via the library closest to them.

International interlibrary loan (ILL) – is the possibility to receive editions, which are not in the collections of the NLL or other Latvian research libraries, from foreign libraries.

To use the ILL services provided by the NLL the library has to familiarise itself with the conditions of use and conclude an agreement with the service provider - the Sector of Electronic Resources and ILL of the NLL. The agreement form can be obtained from the Sector of Electronic Resources and ILL. The requests of materials have to be entered in a specific ILL request form that can be obtained from the Sector of Electronic Resources and ILL or filled in electronically.

In order to use the IILL services, a specific order form that can be obtained from the Sector of Electronic Resources and ILL of NLL or from branch consultants should be filled in.

The following regulations apply to the use of ILL and IILL services:

  • Conditions of Use of the Interlibrary Loan

Service fees:

  • ILL services to libraries – free of charge
  • LL services to the libraries of institutions – free of charge
  • ILL services to commercial entities - 30.00 LVL annual fee or 18.00 LVL for six months
  • Processing of IILL requests and ordering from European countries - 5.00 LVL per unit (students – 3.00 LVL)
  • Processing of IILL requests and ordering from other countries – 6.00 LVL per unit (students – 4.00LVL)
  • Ordering and delivery of copies of articles via ILLL - 1.00 LVL + 0.10 LVL per page
