ISSN Centre, the structural unit of the Institute of Bibliography is the authorised institution in Latvia allocating ISSN in Latvia

The Centre is

• Part of the international ISSN (International Standard Serial Number) system
•  Collecting authoritative Latvian information for the data bases and publications of ISSN system

Services: (for a fee and free of charge in accordance with the Internal

• Granting ISSN number to the publishers on the basis of a written application
• Advice on ISSN number and its use
• Information about serial publications (magazines, newsletters, scientific works, newspapers, yearbooks, series of books) in Latvia and the world
• Information about electronic serial editions recorded in the ISSN register (e-magazines, e-newspapers, data bases)
• Allocates bar codes derived from ISSN and advises publishers on bar coding the serial publications (in accordance with the 1983 Agreement between the International Centre of the ISSN and EAN (European Article Numbering).

In order to receive the ISSN number, an issue of the publication (a copy of the cover, title page or the first page), a copy of the company’s registration certificate have to be submitted and a questionnaire has to be filled in/

In order to receive the ISSN number for electronic publication, the questionnaire for the electronic publication has to be filled in.
