Library Statistics
The Library Advisory Centre of the NLL Institute of Library Development collects, analyses and publishes the statistical information on Latvian library performance indicators.
The statistical information is collected on the basis of the questionnaires of the respective year filled in by the libraries, in accordance with the international and Latvian standard LVS ISO 2789:2005: Information and Documentation: International Library Statistics.
The data on library performance indicators are collected in accordance with:
- The State Law on Statistics
- The Law on the National Library of Latvia
- The Internal Regulations of the National Library of Latvia
The Library Advisory Centre prepares an annual overview of the statistical information “The Performance Indicators of Latvian Libraries”, which provides numerical and comparable data about library work during the reporting period in compliance with the respective international standards. The data are reflected in accordance with the typological classification of the libraries, comparing the data of 4 years.
The Performance Results of Latvian Libraries: 2003-2007
The collected data are submitted to the Central Statistical Bureau, to the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Latvia, to the State Agency “Culture Information Systems”, library specialists and other interested persons.
