Library Advisory Centre

The main lines of activities of the Library Advisory Centre are:


  • Coordination of methodological and advisory issues;
  • Providing the contents for Latvian library portal;
  • Providing information to the specialists of the library sector. The Reading Room of Library and Information Sciences.
  • Creating and developing the collections of the Latvian local governments’ public libraries: administering the State Culture Capital Foundation program “Acquisition of new books and other editions for public libraries”, distribution of culture periodicals, works published with the support of/ purchased by the SCCF, receipt and distribution of donations from various publishers and non-governmental organisations, receiving from publishers and distributing works published with the support of the SCCF;
  • Collecting statistical information on Latvian libraries, comparative analysis of the quantitative and quality performance indicators of Latvian libraries, assessment and publicity;
  • Collecting the written reports from the libraries, analysis of the actual situation, future forecasts;
  • Organising professional meetings and discussions;
  • The employees of the Centre develop and manage projects that suit the profile of the department, prepare information for international joint projects, participate in events organised by other NLL departments.
